It’s almost the much anticipated spring time! The days are finally starting to get longer and the sun is shining more often. That also means Easter is right around the corner!
This Easter egg craft is extremely simple and doesn’t require much time for a squirmy toddler to stay sitting! It also makes an adorable keepsake or a new decoration piece to display. It’s the perfect way to start getting ready for Peter Cottontail’s arrival!
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDES:
Acrylic Paints
I got these paints from Hobby Lobby. I chose some pastel colors to give it more of an Easter feel!
Thin Wooden Eggs
I bought these from Hobby Lobby as well. They had different sizes, but these specific ones are 2.28 x 3.46 inches and came in a pack of 10.
Plastic Sandwich Bag
Just a generic sandwich size baggie is perfect.
Paper bag
I placed a paper bag on the surface before letting my toddler do the craft to avoid any stains. You could use a large sheet of paper too.
Start by placing one of the wooden eggs onto a paper bag or any surface that can get a little messy.
Next, place drops of the acrylic paint onto the egg.
Be mindful about what colors you use so you don’t end up with a brown egg!
Once the egg has drops of paint on top, carefully place the egg inside a plastic bag.
Now for the fun part! Allow your child to smush the paint all over the egg.
Before handing the bag to your child make sure it is completely sealed so you don’t end up with a huge mess!
Once your child is done squeezing the bag, carefully remove the egg and set somewhere safe to dry.
Once completely dry have your child admire their work!
The great thing about this craft is how easily you can switch it up depending on your child’s age and abilities. This could also be easily done with babies who are exploring different textures! Or if your child is older, you can skip the bag part completely and have them paint the egg with a paintbrush instead.
I love displaying my son’s artwork so I will be placing it on our shelving along with the other Easter decorations we have. Another way you can display it is gluing a magnet on the backside to place onto the fridge (or even just use tape!)

I hope you found this craft to be as enjoyable as my son and I did!
