It can be overwhelming to figure out where to start when you are first introducing your baby to purées. Should you buy pouches or jars of baby food at the store? Or should you jump right into making your baby’s food yourself? There is not just one right answer! Some parents simply don’t have the time or tools to prepare purées. While others may prefer to do the food processing themselves and that’s totally fine!
When I began introducing purées to my little one, I focused on preparing his food by myself. As he got older I started to branch out and buy pouches for him as well. So again, there really is no right or wrong way to go about it.
One of my go to purees I make for my son is an oatmeal purée. It is a great “base” where I can easily add in fruit and veggies. Not to mention, it does wonders when constipation strikes. Even though he is a young toddler now, I still give him a thicker version of this oatmeal purée for breakfast to make sure he is getting some extra fiber!
