This is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year. Is it just me or is Christmas just that much more exciting with little ones running around? Sure, it can be a lot more work, but it is so worth it to see the magic of the holidays through their eyes!
To help us get in the Christmas spirit I decided to make a holiday craft with my son. He has recently gotten super excited about snowmen, so I thought this snowflake snowman would be the perfect craft for us to make together!
My son is two and he still had a blast creating this with me. Children of all ages should get a kick out of this!
The items you’ll need for this craft include:
- Scissors
- Glue
- Construction Paper
- Crayons/ Markers
- Free printable cutouts (optional)
Start by making a snowflake out of white construction paper. I chose to use an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper for mine.
Glue the snowflake onto a different color sheet of construction paper for the background.
Cut out eyes, carrot nose, and mouth. Glue each onto the snowman’s face.
I created a free printable download to make this part even easier. You can get that here! If not using the printable, you can cut these shapes out of construction paper.
If using the free printable, encourage your child to color the carrot nose before gluing.
Once you have the snowman’s face assembled, it’s time for the accessories! Cut out a hat and anything else you would like to decorate the snowman with.
The finished project will look something like this!
If using the free printable, have your child color the snowman’s hat, holly, and mittens before gluing onto the picture.
Here’s my son’s snowman!
Let your child glue the pieces for their snowman wherever they choose. Imperfection is what makes this so darn cute!
Enjoy making a fun Christmas craft with your little ones! Let me know if you end up making one with your children. Happy Holidays!
